Transportation Positions

We endorse Utah’s Unified Transportation Plan: 2011–2040 – Developed collaboratively by Cache Metropolitan Planning Organization, Dixie Metropolitan Planning Organization, Mountainland Association of Governments, Utah Department of Transportation, Utah Transit Authority and Wasatch Front Regional Council, this plan forecasts statewide demands on Utah’s mobility system based on population and economic growth. It also comprehensively addresses capacity expansion, operation and maintenance of Utah’s transportation systems.

Users should pay – Transportation users should bear the primary responsibility for funding Utah’s mobility infrastructure. User fees should be increased in order to meet critical mobility needs, and should be adjusted over time to keep pace with inflation. Transportation funding should be streamlined and transparent.
