Chamber names new Director of Communication and Marketing
SALT LAKE CITY- (June 24, 2008) The Salt Lake Chamber announced today the hiring of Marty Carpenter as Director of Communication and Marketing. In this role, Carpenter will direct communication and marketing efforts for Utah’s largest business association including promotion of marquee events like Business-to-Business Expo and Giant in Our City. Carpenter will also serve as editor of the Chamber’s premier publications Life in Utah and Chamber Connection. Carpenter also assumes the role of primary point of contact for local and national media outlets.
“So much of the success of an organization like the Chamber depends on the way it communicates priorities and markets business networking events,” said Lane Beattie, President and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “We’re extremely excited to have Marty join the Chamber. His broadcasting experience, knowledge of the community and professionalism will be a great benefit to us as we work to make Utah an even better place to live and work.”
Prior to his appointment as Director or Communication and Marketing, Carpenter worked with Spring Communications, now part of the Spring Retail Group, a locally owned business and member of the Chamber. Before joining Spring Communications, he worked four years as a sports broadcaster at KJRH, the NBC affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Carpenter also graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and a minor in Spanish from Weber State University.
“When I made the decision to leave television news, I had a very specific vision of what I wanted to do,” said Carpenter. “I wanted a job where I could utilize my skills not only to benefit the organization for which I was working but also to benefit my community. I feel this is the perfect opportunity to do both.”
